From its opening reflections on the Holy Qur’an’s profound relevance to humanity—guiding every creature toward true happiness and well-being—this book presents a wide-ranging study of Islam’s foundational text. The author shows how the Qur’an embodies the roots of faith and stands as the definitive proof of prophethood as the Word of God. Drawing on extensive quotations, the study explores the Qur’an’s outward and inward dimensions and clarifies the meaning of exegesis.
The discussion also considers the continuing validity of revelation and surveys the views of both Muslim and non-Muslim writers on Prophethood. Particular attention is given to the Qur’an’s relationship with knowledge, demonstrating how it inspires inquiry into the sciences, philosophy, literature, and every branch of learning. The book concludes with an account of how the Qur’an has been preserved and transmitted through history.
