Philosophy of Ethics is a translation of the Persian book Falsafeh-ye Akhlaq by the great Muslim thinker and reformer Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari. Some of the topics discussed in this book are as follows: whatness of ethics, natural action and moral action, theory of emotionalism, conscience theory, Islamic ethics and morality, self and non-self, knowledge of the self, spiritual and moral crises in the present age and the criterion for moral action. We hope that this book would be an invaluable contribution to the Islamic thought and of great benefit for all readers in general and people of research in particular.

Ayatollah Shaheed Murtada Muttahari (1919-1979): Was one of the genius thinkers, philosophers and theologians of the modern time. His contributions in the areas of theology and philosophy have shaped contemporary Shi’a and indeed muslim thinking. He consistently advocated and stood for the independence of Islamic thought, one not tainted with western or eastern ideologies.
